Overview
A Single-use Data Logger is a compact, cost-effective electronic device used primarily for monitoring and recording environmental data such as temperature and/or humidity over a specific period, after which it is typically discarded. These devices are especially useful in logistics, cold chain, pharmaceuticals, food transport, and other industries where monitoring environmental conditions during transit is crucial.
Key Applications
-
Use Case:
Monitor temperature-sensitive goods like vaccines, medicines, and food products during transportation.
-
Purpose:
Ensures that temperature has remained within a specified range throughout transit.
-
Industries:
Pharma, food & beverage, biotechnology.
-
Use Case:
Used by pharma companies to comply with regulations for transporting medicines (e.g., WHO GDP guidelines).
-
Purpose:
Ensures the integrity of temperature-sensitive drugs.
-
Compliance:
FDA, EMA, and other regulatory bodies require data logs.
-
Use Case:
Used in shipping perishable foods like dairy, meat, seafood, and produce.
-
Purpose:
Prevent spoilage and maintain safety standards.
-
Proof:
Data log provides traceability in case of disputes or recalls.
-
Use Case:
Used to ensure samples and reagents remain within temperature thresholds.
-
Purpose:
Maintains sample viability and experiment reliability.
-
Use Case:
Monitors delicate chemical or electronic components during transport.
-
Purpose:
Ensures safety and stability of sensitive component.

How It Works
- Activation: Logger is activated manually or starts logging based on a trigger (e.g., time delay or temperature threshold).
- Deployment: Placed inside shipment packaging.
- Logging: Records environmental data at regular intervals (e.g., every 5 mins).
- End of Trip: Once shipment reaches destination, logger is retrieved.
- Data Retrieval: Device is plugged into a USB port or connected via Bluetooth/NFC to extract data.
- Report Generation: A PDF or CSV is generated showing time-stamped temperature/humidity data, alerts, and statistics.
